Keeper Tour Rules for Guests: Prior to the start of the tour, the Keeper Tour Guide should go over the following rules with the guests. The tour guide and the backup should meet the guests in the Tour Waiting Area. After all of the guests have arrived and signed in, gift shop staff will radio to the coordinator that all of the guests have arrived. Guest Arrival: The guests must sign release forms before the Keeper Tour begins (guests for the Keeper Tour are prepaid). After gathering your chosen supplies and extra gloves for guests to use while making enrichment, take them to the Tour Waiting Area to meet your guests. Operant Training supplies should also be prepared prior to the start of the tour by the Senior Keeper performing the training session. Enrichment supplies for the tour are kept in the E-Center. It is good practice to ask the coordinator how many guests are expected so that you do not have to take more than what you may need for the number of guests and cats that you will enrich on your tour. The Keeper Tour Guide should prepare for the tour prior to the guests arriving. Prior to the Start of the Tour: Check with the coordinator prior to beginning the tour to see if there are any changes or special exceptions that would affect the tour.

This tour does require a backup, and the backup may help carry enrichment supplies, but it is important that this task does not distract them from monitoring that the guests follow the rules while on the tour. Otherwise a Senior Keeper will be assigned to both guide the tour and conduct the animal related portions. Keepers and Keeper Tour Guides: The Keeper Tour may be guided by a Yellow Level Keeper or Partner and in such cases a Senior Keeper will be assigned to hand out enrichment and perform the operant training sessions for the tour. Guests also observe operant training sessions. During the Keeper Tour guests will make enrichment and then observe as their hand-made treats are given to the cats by a Senior Keeper. The Keeper Tour is limited to 20 guests per day.

Children under the age of 10 are not permitted on the Keeper Tour. Because the Keeper Tour and other tours are sometimes back to back it is crucial to end the Keeper Tour on time. Late guests will be caught up to the Keeper Tour. The Keeper Tour should not be held up for late guests as many guests on the Keeper Tour often have reservations for our other tours.

Keeper Tour: The Keeper Tour is 2-hours long.
